What does that have to do with party affiliation? The numbers are what they are. Both major parties have been shrinking since 2006, independents have risen since 2006. Cold hard numbers they are. No reasons given for the shrinkage of the major parties or the rise in independents. That can be left to your imagination. Just the fact it has happened and apparently will continue to happen.

It seems as time goes by more and more folks aren’t happy with either major party. I would assume the reasons are many and vary from year to year or election to election as party affiliation rises and falls. But over the long term, both parties are shrinking, that is the trend. But does it matter? Probably not since there are only 2 realistic choices.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
