100 miles or 6 hours is insignificant to a cult member ... likewise I don't see a compelling reason why she would even consider recusal ... cult members are numb to reality and dumb to rational thought

Remember, the judge is Aileen Cannon. The woman is corrupt and as useful as teats on a boar. mad

The 11th Circuit will probably force the issue if she doesn't voluntarily recuse.

There seems to be a connection between these documents being retained by Trump and Jared Kirshner’s $2bn payment from the Saudis for being a “hedge fund manager” when Jared had no prior experience.

After all, Saudi Arabia would be very interested in US intel on Iran.

I don't think the circuit court can arbitrarily interject itself in the proceedings of a lower court. I believe SP Smith would have to ask J Cannon to recuse herself and when she doesn't, he will have to file a motion with the circuit court to remove her, but what would be the grounds for recusal? Because she is ignorant of the law? Because she is stupid? Because she is a cult member? Not sure any of those qualify as legitimate reasons for the court to force her to recuse herself.

Of course I am not a legal expert.

I have wondered if Trump gave original documents to someone and that is the reason some classified folders were empty.

Let's review Aileen Cannon's antics from last fall:

  • While presiding over Trump’s attempt to halt the classified documents investigation in 2022., Cannon leaped at the opportunity to prove her fidelity to the man who’d appointed her and, perhaps, audition for a future Supreme Court seat.
  • Trump's lawyers filed a gibberish filing alleging illegitimate and unconstitutional raid at Ma-a-Largo, Cannon promptly encouraged his lawyers to rewrite the filing so it sounded marginally less asinine.
  • Cannon issued an order prohibiting the government from “further review and use of any of the materials” seized from Mar-a-Lago “for criminal investigative purposes.” (This command marked the first time in the history of the republic that a federal judge had claimed the power to stop a pre-indictment criminal investigation into a suspect. )
  • Cannon agreed to Trump’s request for a special master and appointed Raymond Dearie, a well-respected federal judge.
  • Cannon overruled an order that would’ve required the former president to either disavow or stand by previous claims that FBI agents planted evidence at Mar-a-Lago.
  • Cannon spared Trump the burden of lodging specific objections to the review of individual documents, which would have revealed the bogus nature of his claim to executive privilege.
  • Cannon extended deadlines to help Trump drag out the special master’s review for as long as possible.

Finally a very conservative 11th Circuit Court - made up of two Trump appointees and the ultraconservative William Pryor - ruled that Cannon had no authority to hear Trump’s lawsuit in the first place, rendering every one of her orders null and void.

Why this woman is even allowed to be a judge after her shenanigan's is beyond belief. mad

because a Republican Senate consented to the nomination. They have in the recent past consented to completely incompetent nominations ... so they would be almost routine for them. The only qualifications necessary are adherence to right wing extremist views and now utter and complete fealty to Trump. check and check

next question?

Donald Trump arrested and assigned a probation officer.

Guess who doesn't have a probation officer?

  • Barack Obama
  • GW Bush
  • Bill Clinton
  • Joe Biden
