Sidney Powell’s cooperation plea broke yesterday, there were people asking who could have predicted that Powell - the Kraken! - had turned state’s witness.

After Judge Scott McAfee rejected a Powell bid to dismiss the non-RICO charges against her, the decision to flip likely became a lot easier. The hacking charges with which she was charged were the most serious free-standing charges in the Georgia indictment.

Powell played a key role in Fox’s platforming of propaganda, as laid out in the Dominion lawsuit (after the Fox settlement, Dominion’s lawsuit against Powell moved into a more active phase).

Powell cut a plea deal yesterday, and now Chesebro has cut a similar plea deal today. This gives DA Fani Willis two cooperating witnesses that she can (and will) use to try to pressure the rest of the bunch into also cutting plea deals. And of course Powell and Chesebro will also end up testifying against Trump (and anyone else who doesn’t flip) at trial.

Cheeseboro pleaded to a felony, Powell pleaded to misdemeanors.

Willis must have overwhelming evidence to convict. Two lawyers, along with their legal counsel. have decided to plead out. They collectively assessed the evidence and concluded that they could not win and it was more advantageous to plead guilty in exchange for lesser sanctions and the proffering of evidence.
