Great story: Wedding Officient Shoots His GrandsonThe part I love is he said the gun was going to be used to "summon the bride". What kind of hellhole marriage are we looking at here? Reminds of the Simpsons episode where Homer gets a handgun. Then he uses it for everything, like turning off lights, TV, etc. They never thought to have him point it at Marge, so she fetches him a beer.

Just finished some to-do's on the laptop when I happened to think about RR. Thought, what the hell, lets see how things are going on the worlds (?) oldest political blog... Anyway, hello to all the "Old Timers". Livetoride stills exists...albeit a little older, wiser and completely worn out on politics- or whatever you guys call what's been going on the last 7 years...
What if the Hokey-Pokey REALLY IS what it's all about? God Hates Me

Hey!!!!!! Long time, no see!!! ...Livetoride stills exists...albeit a little older, wiser and completely worn out on politics - or whatever you guys call what's been going on the last 7 years... Aren't we all a little older? I moved from Cali to the PNW (Seattle metro) for work. Bought a house, you can read about it here. Unfortunately, we've lost a few Ranters along the way to the big political debate in the sky...Scout, Phil, Humphreymar, Golem.

A number of years back BC (Before Covid), my wife and I were watching morning news on CNN when a story came on about a plane crash in India. It seems that the flight was brought down by "celebratory gunfire" at a wedding. 13 people were killed in the crash. I admit to us laughing at the grisly irony. On sober reflection, I said, "how awful that 13 people died in making us laugh." My wife's response, "Really. One or two would have been sufficient." NWP, you're a sick puppy.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

We're entering another. It's a good time, I think, to renew friendships and engage in sober (and not-so-sober) discussion.

Tomorrow is election day, at least here, and there are important issues on the ballot here and elsewhere. I am personally working in a campaign for school board trying to keep a radical rightwing nutjob candidate off the school board. Another nutjob is trying to get on the City Council. I am seriously thinking about running next time an opening happens.

Abortion brought many voters to the polls and overwhelmingly gave Dems a blue wave Tuesday night. Abortion will be a hot topic in 2024 and it will bring voters to the polls.
