I was perusing the CNN show this morning CNN This Morning with Kasie Hunt. I was surprised to see that they had no, zero, none, segments concerning the misinformation and lies being spread and pushed by Trump and the GOP. Those lies have caused issues for those gullible enough to believe them. And they didn't have one segment - 5 minutes - on the subject.
I have noticed this at other times too when Trump and the GOP have spread lies, the cat eating Haitians in Ohio for example. They had relatively small coverage on that topic as compared to other outlets.
I am disappointed in them. I used to believe that CNN was near center in reporting - meaning, they didn't lean as far left as MSNBC and also didn't lean as far right as FOX . Maybe it was just that one show in this instance, but I have generally noticed this in other shows too. I think the change seemed to happen around the same time they left Don Lemon go from their employ.
Is it just me?

Try Scripps News, which is available live OTA on different broadcast channels, or streaming, or on cable. Just go to https://www.scrippsnews.com/ to find it near you. It's a lot like the news coverage we used to take for granted.

Thanks for the tip Jeff. I'm on my way there after here. A very good friend of mine is a fellow film editor and she got her start working on documentaries for Scripps Howard way back in the early 2000's and she ended up editing the rebooted Carl Sagan series COSMOS a couple of years ago. So I've always had a fondness for Scripps, but I only heard about their news channel a month ago, to which Mary replied in shock, almost "apologizing" because she had assumed I knew it was live on cable. It is relatively new on cable but apparently they began streaming a couple of years ago.

CNN is simply doing what it can to garner more eyeballs. Capitalism - gotta love it!

Well, they mostly lost this viewer in their efforts. I don't need another FOX (although they're not that bad yet). I've started watching them only to compare what they are reporting on to see if they are leaning towards Trump - the only reason I watch FOX.
I thought maybe they are afraid they will lose their license when Trump wins again. They are being proactive to avoid that.

I watch but, i guess, not as much as I should. Its kinda interesting. Our TV media is in it for themselves. There is little or none of the old, newspaper stuff wherein they, obviously, are after truth and reality of the day. This seems to be proven, over and over, recently, that several of those folks have said they will not be going for one person, or another, for president. This is, as far as I can tell, because they fear the anger of Mr Trump. They do this because he will not be happy or nice to them and they want EVERYBODY (apparently) happy with them. The really bad thing is that if this is the case them watching them will be a complete and total waste of them because you cannot trust them.
This bothers me, and has for a few weeks now I know this is happening because some of those saying this about CNN have, later, done the same thing themselves. Apparently its also true of some newpapers too. All this being the case, one can certainly wonder about what is going on and also who should be trusted??

There is little or none of the old, newspaper stuff wherein they, obviously, are after truth and reality of the day. This seems to be proven, over and over, recently, that several of those folks have said they will not be going for one person, or another, for president. This is, as far as I can tell, because they fear the anger of Mr Trump. Also, more importantly, after the rise of cable and the sunset of The Fairness Doctrine, news ceased being any kind of public service because it became necessary for it to become a consumer product. And that means the consumer is always right, so news tells consumers what they want to hear whereas if it's a public service, it tells you what you NEED to hear. We have spent forty years letting news tell us comforting stories and confirm our biases. If the news BUSINESS of the last forty something years has taught us anything, and it has taught us precious little, it has taught us that we are always right and that they are not to be trusted. I say that news is only to be trusted if it behaves like the close friend who is willing to tell you uncomfortable truth. Not YOUR truth, not MY truth, not God's truth, THE TRUTH. It's been a very long time since news did that, or was even ABLE to do that. And it is our fault. We let the news become a consumer product. We voted for the people who were willing to make that happen.... because the news was making us uncomfortable, and Americans do not want to feel uncomfortable. And with that, I think I am withdrawing somewhat from politics. Nothing I said or did made any difference...not "for America", not for any of my fellow Americans, but even any difference for myself and my family. It did no good, it only sapped my strength and well being, and made me older and sicker. I do not have a lot of years left. I know it. I'm going to do whatever I can to make those last years happier, because once I'm gone, none of this will matter anymore, at least to me. My daughter doesn't need to stick her thumb in the air to know which way the wind is blowing and we will do what we can to make her more prepared. But that's it, that's the ball game. I'm glad both my parents are dead, father in 1986, mother in 2012. They were spared all of this. I'm going to spare myself and my wife and kid as much as possible even if it just means making the end more bearable.
