My favorite isn’t among the list. Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois. But my second choice is, Andy Beshear of Kentucky. From what I’ve read, many democrats are saying they need to go further left, go with a progressive. I think they’re wrong. Election wise, I think they’ll need a candidate that appeals to the moderates, independents, swing voters which many in the progressive wing turns them off. Notice, I said election wise. Keep in mind that in order to govern, first one must win an election. Keeping that in mind, I’m looking at this from an election standpoint, not an ideological one. Who I think can attract the most voters. Keep in mind, independents, swing voters these days make up approximately 42% of the electorate. A plurality of voters with both major parties base down to around 28/29% at least according to Gallup and Pew Research. Fact is both major parties have been shrinking slowly with independents rising from 30% in 2006 up to the present 42% of the electorate.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
