methinks that Crane was very young at the time of this writing... and trying to understand justice
as with all artists/poets he was wont to periods of discovery
consider this:
"If I should cast off this tattered coat, And go free into the mighty sky; If I should find nothing there But a vast blue, Echoless, ignorant --- What then? "
probably more of a challenge to the ethics of spirituality, than an enigmatic truth.
