Deficits have not been a problem in Democratic administrations because they were/are believers in the Keynesian economic theory that deficit spending is good for the economy. Unlike Mr. Friedman who believed that deficit spending was a brake on excessive spending by our government. It is unfortunate that Republicans have created the deficit we now have. It was however created for something that our government is supposed to be doing, fighting a war. When the Democrats were engaged in deficit spending it was to pay for social spending programs that are not what our government is supposed to be doing.
Seriously, Senator H, do you ever check your facts first? Nothing you said above is verifiable, except this "It is unfortunate that Republicans have created the deficit we now have." More than half of the deficit we currently have has nothing to do with the war, and everything to do with tax cuts.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich
