Seriously though, The Latter Day Saints Church has about the same logical connection to mainstream Christianity as Islam does: Both are what the Muslims call "People of the Book" (along with Christians and Jews) who worship the God of Abraham and consider the Old Testament holy. Both recognize Jesus as an important figure in their religion. Both concentrate on a post-Jesus prophet's account of additional messages from God. In fact, both of their respective prophets dictated the passages of their holy message to a scribe.
There's also another interesting similarity: Both of their respective prophets promoted polygamy, both liked 'em young, and both had way more wives than they allowed their followers.
