Ardy, I think the government doesn't care about abuses in religion until they affect the law; these people are being investigated for possible tax problems, and to ensure that they actually qualify for tax-exempt status.
My problem with their "gospel of prosperity" is a personal one only; I wouldn't like it no matter what their tax status. <grin>
