Do you...um, "missing" Ranters really think this is the best way to handle this?

For the record I miss all of you and if it weren't for 'emerald one' popping in and out and not posting, I'd figured you were taking a break. But the fact that the 'emerald one' pops in and doesn't post, it was easy to figure out. [Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]

1885 - Dr. William Grant of Davenport, IA performed the first successful appendectomy on this day.

1950 - RCA Victor announced that it would manufacture long-playing (LP) records.

COINCIDENCE? I think NOT!

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

That hiss you hear is the Hillary balloon deflating.

b) GPS did it.
A rental car driver, following his GPS instructions to the letter, turned right where directed, got stuck on RR tracks, left and tried to wave down the oncoming train, only to see it smashed to bits.

Countrywide is firing another 127 in the chicago area, reflecting their truly stupid business plan.

Manufacturing job growth did not happen, showing the housing market is in a full swoon.

Oh, good. President Bush is meeting with the Fed chairman. He promises to fix everything. honest. Just like Condi fixed Pakistan, lebanon, Iran, Iraq, . . . .

I liked the hockey commercials and identified totally!

Mr. BamaMama and I went out for a quick breakfast at Mickey D's. I'll never again go to a place that is so close to where people live under bridges in this city.

The man started a nice conversation with me because of concern that I might trip. But then he wouldn't shut up -- having to go into the fact that the ozone layer was getting thinner and that was the reason we had 104 temperatures this summer and freezing (30 degrees - not so cold) this winter. That's nice we said and tried to continue eating.

The man then tried to tell us that all this had been predicted by Nostradamous (sp). At that point, of course, my husband could no longer remain silent.

Mr. BamaMama said "Nostradamous is full if crap and stop talking to us."

The man continued to mumble under his breath about how dumb was my husband and I tried to soldier through it all.

1935 - Bob Hope was first heard on network radio as part of The Intimate Revue

1954 - Elvis Presley strolled into the Memphis Recording Service and put $4 on the counter. He recorded Casual Love Affair and I’ll Never Stand in Your Way
Coincidence? Pigs recognize great beginnings.

Yes, that's what "they" say. [Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]

Down here in the basin, it's mostly wind. I'll give "them" that. We're talking 45-50 mph winds - with a few spritzles. A wind "storm" but not a storm, storm. [Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]
