SuZQ we're watching that weather too. Daughter is in Colorado right now. She's rented a car and is all over the place.
Supposed to come home on Monday.
Just tell her to be careful if she's in the mountains (ski areas) this weekend. Along with snow, they're calling for high winds, which together can cause a lot of havoc. Last Sunday they closed down I-70 for almost 24 hours due to high winds blowing the snow around. A lot of people were stuck in shelters, or worse yet, their own cars. The front range (Denver and metro area) is supposed to have snow Monday, but now they're saying 30% chance.

How cool! I'd go to that!
Yeah, we saw the IMAX movie "Ghosts of the Abyss" that went along with it and it gave you a better idea of what they had to do to even get to the Titanic site (it's way down there!). Most of the artifacts on display actually come from the debris field surrounding the ship, not the ship itself. The feeling you come away is what a senseless waste of lives occurred there; so many stupid mistakes that could have been prevented cry .

Good, hopefully that will continue as it passes over Colorado later this weekend. Son of SuZQ and girlfriend have to make their way across the entire state of CO (350+ miles) to get back to Durango by Monday when classes resume. The weather types here make it sound like the area they will have to cross will be getting 2-3 ft. of snow. Hopefully, they're just giving a worse-case scenario again.

Been enjoying some family time with son and girlfriend while they're home from school. Went to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature to see the Titanic exhibit before it leaves this weekend. You are given a boarding pass when you enter and take on the identity of one of the actual passengers taking the voyage. At the end you discover whether you made it. I was a 24 newly wed from Italy traveling with my husband to eventually make a life in California. I survived, but husband did not. Son was a 3rd class male who miraculously survived somehow. His girl friend was a doctor's wife in 1st class - both she and her husband survived. Poor Mr. S was a 3rd class coal worker and doomed from the get go frown .

Steve and SuzQ, Our friends Jacque and Dave went to see the movie separately since they had two small children who could not accompany them to the movie. They both raved, so I saw the movie by myself while Mr. BamaMama was out of town and then upon his return took him to see the movie.

I became fascinated with all things Titanic and purchased four books on the subject. Cameron researched the movie well. There were indeed people such a the character Jack who were on board with tickets belonging to someone who had not made the trip. There were true stories of heroes and cowards; dumb mistakes that caused such a tragedy and people in the life boats afraid to turn back to pick up survivors because they were afraid the scramble would upturn everyone. Some said they just waited at a distance, praying for the crying to eventually stop of those in the freezing water.

Dave, a scientist, said that he just believe somewhere on that boat he could have found something that he could have purloined that would have floated.

The only think I hated about the movie was the dialog which is easy to remember to this day

"HOLD ON ROSE!"

"I'M COMING JACk"

"HOLD ON ROSE!"

"JACK! JACK!"

After watching such mega hits I love to go to the Film Mistakes web site and find the technical and factual errors in such a movie. Some complaints get very picky but some are worth review.

For instance -- in the movie "High Noon," Gary Cooper writes a letter to his love before he goes out for the gunfight. He puts the letter in an envelope and licks the flap to seal it shut. I think I'm correct when I say that envelopes with sticky glue weren't invented at that time.

Another one -- "Blazing Saddles" --- Do you remember when the characters put up card-board cut-outs to scare away the bad guys. If you look, maybe the film was inverted because the card board people are facing toward the town, not away from the town where the "bad" guys would have been entering.

Steve, I've ridden with the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen to hand out food in the projects. That is a humbling experience. People line up for the food in the giant containers that are loaded hot. We dish the stuff out of the big pots attached as to not roll with bungee cords....those cords are so gunked with GUNK, I want to use the protective gloves before I even begin spooning out the food.

And the people receiveing the food will line up and ask for several plates because they have children at home. On warm days, they will sit on the curb and eat the foot we bring.

The old Salvation Army truck rumbles and rolls and reminds me of the big brown truck in 101 Dalmations, gearing up, juggling to get it started, but every day rain or shine, it takes food to those who need it.

Nope, I install the security software on our IBM mainframes and we just recently rolled out a new version of my product and last night we installed a new version of the IBM product. We had some problems and had to back the IBM software off but not mine due to a problem with a 3rd vendors product.

Thanks, SuZQ. Hopefully she is being careful and watching the weather. She knew heading out that storms could be a problem. She's trying to cover alot of ground but she's generally pretty responsible about those kinds of things.
I hope I hope....

Apparently, this storm is a doozy! One of our local weather persons, who is used to Western New York weather patterns, reported that wind gusts could be up to 200mph! And I've heard forecasts of up to 12 feet of snow in some places. That makes even a Buffalonian wince!

I don't know much about buffaloes. The only ones we have anywhere near here are imports. The city got its name from the French Beau fleuve, or "Beautiful River". I suppose I could make the river wince by telling it I was sending it to Cleveland. laugh
