The weather people suck...
"Bad storm, bad storm"
ooooohhhhh!
"Two/three inches of rain"
"Bad storm"
eh....nuthin' Good, hopefully that will continue as it passes over Colorado later this weekend. Son of SuZQ and girlfriend have to make their way across the entire state of CO (350+ miles) to get back to Durango by Monday when classes resume. The weather types here make it sound like the area they will have to cross will be getting 2-3 ft. of snow. Hopefully, they're just giving a worse-case scenario again. Been enjoying some family time with son and girlfriend while they're home from school. Went to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature to see the Titanic exhibit before it leaves this weekend. You are given a boarding pass when you enter and take on the identity of one of the actual passengers taking the voyage. At the end you discover whether you made it. I was a 24 newly wed from Italy traveling with my husband to eventually make a life in California. I survived, but husband did not. Son was a 3rd class male who miraculously survived somehow. His girl friend was a doctor's wife in 1st class - both she and her husband survived. Poor Mr. S was a 3rd class coal worker and doomed from the get go . Steve and SuzQ, Our friends Jacque and Dave went to see the movie separately since they had two small children who could not accompany them to the movie. They both raved, so I saw the movie by myself while Mr. BamaMama was out of town and then upon his return took him to see the movie. I became fascinated with all things Titanic and purchased four books on the subject. Cameron researched the movie well. There were indeed people such a the character Jack who were on board with tickets belonging to someone who had not made the trip. There were true stories of heroes and cowards; dumb mistakes that caused such a tragedy and people in the life boats afraid to turn back to pick up survivors because they were afraid the scramble would upturn everyone. Some said they just waited at a distance, praying for the crying to eventually stop of those in the freezing water. Dave, a scientist, said that he just believe somewhere on that boat he could have found something that he could have purloined that would have floated. The only think I hated about the movie was the dialog which is easy to remember to this day "HOLD ON ROSE!" "I'M COMING JACk" "HOLD ON ROSE!" "JACK! JACK!" After watching such mega hits I love to go to the Film Mistakes web site and find the technical and factual errors in such a movie. Some complaints get very picky but some are worth review. For instance -- in the movie "High Noon," Gary Cooper writes a letter to his love before he goes out for the gunfight. He puts the letter in an envelope and licks the flap to seal it shut. I think I'm correct when I say that envelopes with sticky glue weren't invented at that time. Another one -- "Blazing Saddles" --- Do you remember when the characters put up card-board cut-outs to scare away the bad guys. If you look, maybe the film was inverted because the card board people are facing toward the town, not away from the town where the "bad" guys would have been entering. Kathy
