Good links, Larry. Good info. That blows my tinfoil source out of the proverbial water. (I know them to be occasionally loony but post their stories anyway, hoping that someone will come along like you did and separate the wheat from the chaff).

No problem, Steve. I've learned the hard way to challenge just about anything I read on the Net.

I'm still curious about how those fiber cables were knocked out. I'm having a hard time believing the ship's anchor explanation. The timing and number of incidents seem to push the limits of coincidence. So don't put away that tinfoil hat just yet...

From what I've read at least 8 cables have been cut so far. I don't know, but I suspect that the US could severe all Iranian internet connections. Perhaps these 'accidents' are a message/veiled threat?

I read on the internet that the US Navy has small subs with the ability to cut these cables, which doesn't sound too far out or tin-foil hat club.

I'm sure Iran has other options other than cables - there's still satellite transmission, for instance... I mean, it's not like the U.S. can shoot down a satellite!

errrr, waitaminute... confused

Petrorubles? Russian ruble could be used in oil trade deals in Iran.

Secretary Rice reveals the official US position on Iran in this quote from the Jerusalem Post:
Quote
. . . whatever the Iranians may be doing . . . is inadequate . . .
Rice further claims that Iran failed to address allegations about weapons testing back in 2005 based on evidence submitted by the US, purportedly from a captured laptop. Iran said the allegations were a "fabrication". I presume the US will continue to insist that Iran address the allegations in some other, more substantive way, for example by saying they did in fact test a re-entry vehicle, but feel compelled to deny it in the hopes that such denials would precipitate a US or Israeli attack.

Watch for the Librul Press to faithfully wait until the very last paragraph of any given news story to report that the IAEA assessment published last Friday gave Iran high marks in accountability despite their insistence that development of peaceful nuclear power is within the bounds of international law.

Or not report it at all.

I believe Iran has already accepted ¥ (Yen) from Japan in an earlier oil deal. Anything but $ looks ok.

Steve,

Hold onto your tinfoil hat, I heard rumors that McCain is going to ask Rice to be his running mate.

uh-uh, Turkey in northern Iraq, Iranians accepting currencies other than the US petrodollar. The stage is being set for regional war. The missle shootdown the other day is looking more and more like practice rather than a warning.
