Women in Combat

Amazing - it was published by the same newspaper that caused this thread.

The only information I can offer of a personal nature is that when my cousin (career military) returned from Desert Storm, he had the highest praise for the women he served with - one of whom was blown up in his presence.

The article is interesting, although it's 3 years old.

I salute everyone who serves. These women have every reason to be proud. None of them as far as I can see are 11 Bravo, infantry, nor should they be.

In Vietnam we began to realize that warfare was changing and that wars of the future would have no front lines. In Vietnam many combat support units took casualties. But except for nurses and doughnut dollies there were no American women in Vietnam. The only military women were nurses.

Times have changed. Because of piss poor planning of a war that never should have happened we went to war with the army we had as explain by Donald "MacNamara" Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld, Hadley, Fife and a handfull of like minded civilian suckers, dummies and fools with Cheney and Bush's approval put us right where we are today - National Guard troops humping half the load. Women too.

I understand that some women end up in the sh*t, most while in combat support roles. I don't know how many, what percentage, but one is too many. And there should be no women in line units. If that's sexist then in that regard deal me in. I would venture to say most women agree with me.
