Rice says no point in talking to Iran now ... unless the clerical regime changes its behavior and gives up its suspected nuclear weapons ambitions. Does that mean she has eliminated diplomacy as an option? Would that leave only the military option? O right she was speaking to AIPAC ... she had to intimate the US would bomb Iran to make those right-wing crazies happy. Has anyone seen anyone who has proof of Iranian pursuing nuclear weapons? How do you go about 'giving up' someone else's suspicion?

Gaza missile slams into Israeli health clinicA senior Israeli official said Iran was helping militants improve the range of their rockets and that it was "only a matter of months" before rockets could hit far deeper into Israeli territory.
"Once Iran helps them to master the art of building longer-range rockets, they will fire them from inside Gaza where it will be almost impossible to find them," he said.
Hamas praised the attack and said that the longer range of the strike "proved that Israel's defence doctrine had failed." The group's armed wing warned Israel against "committing any foolish acts in response." "Only a matter of months" he said. A clue as to when this will play out? Lots of "reasons" for obliterating Iran, i.e. bring democracy to it, fight terrorists, remove nuclear threat, etc.. However, I believe that they're just pretexts and the motive has more to do with the Zagros Oil Belt and Iran's untapped oil fields. George Ure believes that the US will attack Iran when oil hits $6 this summer. Here's why: A barrel of oil is 42 gallons. That means the raw material cost to make gasoline or diesel is $3.33 a gallon. Now, what do you reckon the cracking (distillation) costs are? I would guess a dollar. And transportation and Federal taxes? Another buck, you think? And then what about mark-up for the retailer? 50-cents, maybe? Throw on a heap of state and local taxes and we're there! Just has to come through the supply chain to you.
Look for war to show up about when gas goes over $6 dollars. The pols & hacks will then blame Iran (or whoever) and the dumber of our countrymen will buy it.Ure's explanation is the only one that makes any sense, especially when oil gets over $150/barrel. The only figure that I question is the 50-cents retailer mark-up. It's probably closer to 10-cents.

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern believes that we'll attack Iran soon. If he's correct, do you believe that this is in the best interest of the USA or that Iran poses a threat to the USA? And, what do you believe will be the repercussions of any such insane attack?

For right wing paranoids, it is always a crisis or emergency that only they can contain and control.

Or use as a pretext to invade another sovereign nation, steal their oil, and impose martial law at home. The quesion arises, however, regarding any involvement of Iran and Pakistan in the developement of North Korea's nuclear weapons program and if they benefited in any way by financing it. If Iran already has even one nuke and a black market cruise missle, then that's a problem. The problem for the average American is whom to believe. Certainly not this oil soaked Administration or its lapdog MSM. Take the price for oil, for example. Whom do you believe? Some say that there's more than enough oil and the price increase is due to market manipulation. Some say it's the oil producers' greed. Realistically, however, a declining dollar in relation to oil, which it is linked, and market manipulation plays a large part in the increase. And, does the inflation and economic hardship provide an opportunity to blame the Iranians and make bombing them more palatable? The only picture that I see emerging is an escalation of hostilities, including a possible expansion of the war, and the possibility of martial law at home.

It looks as though team Bush is doing everything possible to create a Gulf of Tonkin sort of situation where we would "have no choice" but to respond. US escalating covert operations against Iran-report link The above link is just a summary of a few points from a larger article appearing in the New Yorker Magazine

after reading the McGovern art. it occurred to me he didn't extrapolate his conclusions
how is this for a scenario: attack Iran just prior to the general election (talk about an Oct surprise) which should convert all the non-thinking maroons in America to opt for McCain as the only viable candidate to lead the country during the crisis
yikes am i in a dream or can this be for real
