NEW YORK (Reuters) - "Sex" moved from the city to the cinema on Friday as hordes of determined women descended upon Manhattan for the premiere of "Sex and the City" in the city where the hit television show-turned-film takes place... ...Web sites such as the Internet Movie Data Base, where more than 3,000 users had rated the film a paltry 3.7 of a possible 10 as of Friday night. But the voting breakdown hinted at a healthy dose of sexism in the city, with men casting nearly three times as many votes as women, and rating the film a 3, while women gave it a 7. Reuters

I found the TV show to be boring, so I'm not all het up to see the movie...do I lose my Chick Flick card for that?

Issodhos I dont think its really an original idea. ive heard plans of men who are planning, entirely by co-incidence, to frequent the bars closest to the cinemas. a three hour drivel fest like this film would undoubtedly dirve man woman and beast to drink!

Women flocked to "Sex and the City," the long-awaited romantic comedy based on the HBO series of the same name, sending it to the top spot at the North American box office with better-than-expected weekend sales, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures said on Sunday.
Its $55.7 million opening easily beat expectations of the Time Warner Inc unit had hoped the big-screen version of the series would launch in the $25 million to $35 million range.
Industry observers had assumed that " Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" would whip up a second weekend in first place. Instead, the Paramount Pictures adventure was No. 2 with $46 million

women flocked to it because of the spectacular clothes, the kick ass shoes and the oh so hot young male bodies. It's the Mary Tyler Moore for the new generation but with women who aren't 21. At last a show/movie that shows that women can look damn hot at 40 + and that they have choices.
Many of us would love to be Carrie Bradshaw not so much for her life as for her clothes and shoes!!

The original HBO series was/is extremely well written and acted, IMO. Don't look at the eviscerated TBS version though.

The series is long over. It is on DVD, seasons 1-6. Netflix has it.
