what exactly is the point of this thread?
sure everyone has questions about Obama, me especially as he appears to be just like the rest of the US political elite when it comes to foreign, sorry, imperial policy.
a list of questions would suffice, rather then the respewing of a mixture of soundbites, attack emails, gaffes. and you porbably would get more change out of people that way.

Ma cannot become a member of the club until he learns to spell. Died in the wool sounds ominously like a Bushism. And if he's going to use Bushism's, he cannot be a member.
(Note to Ma: try dyed in the wool)

The last time I had this much fun on a thread, I was kicked off of the board for months. But, now that I am a Dem, I have gotten special dispensation from the grand poobah. As long as I don't name names, accuse people of being doomed, and not make fun of the art of liberalism I am safe.

a list of questions would suffice, rather then the respewing of a mixture of soundbites, attack emails, gaffes. and you porbably would get more change out of people that way. The point of this thread, other than anouncing to the world that I am now and forever a liberal leaning American, is to raise a question about our neo-savior. Hal stated that questioning whether Obama is a Muslim isn't right because he says he isn't. Seems that as long as it is written in the papers it must be true. That rule, it seems to me, only works for liberals. Conservatives must be lying, hence my conversion to the enlightened left. I have puplically stated that I am a Dem, it has been published (sort of), I am now a Dem, so it must be true. The joke "How do you know when a politician is lying?" comes to mind here. The answer, of course, is his lips are moving. That same idiom applies to anything written by a politician. When I question Obama's campaign about the lack of specifics, I am told to read his book. It has been published, it must be true. The pure stroke of genius, was the pre-emptive attack on the McCain Campaign for racial slurs that haven't been spoken yet. Telling his adoring crowd that he would be ready for it "WHEN". When you are a liberal Dem, you can see the future I guess. When you are a liberal Dem you also play by a different set of rules. It seems that asking him anything about his former religion, because at one point in time he was going to a Muslim school, or his "crazy Uncle" is off limits. Seems that when he is asked for specifics he tells of hope you can count on, whatever the hell that means. I love my country, and I love being a winner. If I have to convert to be a winner, then I will. I pledge my undying love and support for neo-savior. I will bad mouth anybody who even thinks about asking him a question. Anybody who uses the H word will be dealt with in the most extreem way, and his wife is off limits, only Cindy McCain is fair game. So, if you let me into your party I will be a loyal follower of the neo-savior, or shall I say Barack H Obama, my neo savior? I will worship at his alter and bring my children to him to let him lay hands on them. He will become what every American wants him to be, just ask him and he will tell you what it is you want him to be. If he tells you then he can easily become it, kind of like cutting out the middle man. I never read campaign emails, and I don't have time to watch the new. I will get my information directly from the Reverend Dean at the DNC. He will send it via a wavelength that only I will be able to hear, and only aftyer I take off my tin foil hat. I have placed my autographed picture of Karl Rove on my dart board and have focused on hitting him between the eyes. My conversion is complete! Life is easy when you don't have to think.

I find this whole thread offensive, ugly, counter-productive and a waste of time. Therefore, I won't spend any more time with it.

EmmaG Another non-believer. Is it that you don't believe my conversion, or that you think I am making sport of Neo H Savior?

I don't think the thread is ugly, nor is it offensive. Rather, it's sad. You see, I've been spending time on a board populated by a lot of conservatives and what I find is a sad need to villify anything that does not jive with their political philosophies. I find many of the neo-conservative ideas to be the antithisis of my ideas, and that's the way it typically works when you have more than one party. However, I do not find it necessary to belittle an entire group, although at times I think it would be a whole helluva lot of fun. As to the savior crap, Ma, you're being disengenious here. Many of the current POTUS's followers could be called, well, just that, followers. That said, while I don't hold a particular candle for this Dem candidate, and I surely do not for the POTUS, I think it's a good sign that we have so many people (from both parties, interestingly) excited about a president. It's been a dark and cynical seven years and people need a little light. Good luck on your crusade, it only serves to belittle you, Ma.
sure, you can talk to god, but if you don't listen then what's the use? so, onward through the fog!
