Proportionality .
I observe that very many leaders of corporatations feel that their compensation package should be proportional to the value they have created in the company.
When it comes to taxes, these same people would feel that their tax burden should not be similarly proportional to the amount of benefit (income) these individauls have derived from the economic system.
It seems the concept of "fairness" changes depending on whether it will be used to calculate income or expense.
