Ardy- I hate holiday endings. And I once fell in love with a beautiful Iranian film that was about the story woven into a carpet, told while the carpet was being washed. Pace is not a problem for me.

I have several NetFlix films to recommend - all BBC television productions:

We are currently watching "Monarch of the Glen". Took a few episodes, but we are now hooked. Have 5 more discs (probably 20 more episodes) to watch. When the DVD arrives, not much gets done around the house until we've seen all the episodes.

"Ballykissangel" is an Irish "Northern Exposure". But even better, IMO.

If you didn't catch "Foyle's War" on PBS, make sure you get it from NetFlix. So authentic and Michael Kitchen's portrayal of Christopher Foyle as a police detective in southern England during WWII is wonderful.

Dockside - seconds and thirds on Foyle's War - I watched some of it and then got distracted; I've been meaning to get back to it but I'd forgotten the series name - so thank you!

And another Romanian movie worth watching (not many of those out there) is 'The Death of Mr Lazarescu'. From Wikipedia:

Quote
The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (Romanian title Moartea domnului Lăzărescu) is a Romanian drama made in 2005 by director Cristi Puiu. In the film an old man (Ion Fiscuteanu) is carried by an ambulance from hospital to hospital all night long, as doctors keep refusing to treat him and send him away.

The Death of Mr. Lazarescu enjoyed immediate critical acclaim, both in film festivals, where it won numerous awards, and after wider release, receiving enthusiastic reviews. However, the film did poorly in international box office.

Cleaning/repairing DVDs

I think I have finally discovered a near ideal solution for this problem.

From TAP Plastics-- Novus #2 fine scratch remover.
I apply a small amount as liquid around the disk
then polish with a t-shirt type rag
polishing with my finger rubbing from center in and out.
Polish starts out like liquid car wax
and comes off like car wax when you polish the wax

This removes dirt and fine scratches as the name would imply
It is simple and works first time all the time.
cost for 8 ox was $6.15 at TAP plastic store
probably available on the Internet somewhere

Switching the topic of The decline of resources in America to the Netflix thread for Pi. It’s ten years old but I loved it. Bizarre film but great IMO. Anyone out there seen it?

No. But I did see "Breaking Away," which was a sleeper back in the 70's. Many guys can relate to this movie. I was like the dummy that banged his head against the limestone cliff.

Boney_Taters,

I had just come from the thread where you said you were voting for Nader, then I read that you consider yourself to be the moron banging his head against the limestone cliff... I put 1 and 1 together and made a joke.

You responded with a school yard retort that was deleted, either by youself or by a mod. Either way, I know now, that you don't have a sense of humor and that you take yourself and these boards far too seriously.

There was no vitriol, except from your own keyboard.
