there is another active thread right now about the murder of an American soldier, and I don't think the word "scumbag" has been used there at all. Perhaps it is just a case of, sometimes an ugly thing happens that doesn't have any great meaning in the good or ill of society -- it's just a bad thing, that happened. It's an isolated incident. Uh oh. I think I'm channeling.:-) Yours, Issodhos

So far as I know, there is no growing trend of bus stabbings.

I was shocked when I heard this story on the news last Thursday. First of all, in Canada?! ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/icon_eek.gif) ...and why were the fellow passengers so passive? ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/headscratch.gif) Doesn't the bus driver have a role to ensure the safety of his/her passengers? ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/shrug.gif) If anyone should be carrying a concealed weapon - it should have been the bus driver.

They club itty-bitty baby seals to death and drink bad beer.:-) ...and why were the fellow passengers so passive? ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/headscratch.gif) They were not passive. Indeed, they were very energetic in deserting the passenger being attacked -- and they drink bad beer. Doesn't the bus driver have a role to ensure the safety of his/her passengers? ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/shrug.gif) Yes. Her role is to keep the bus on the road, get to where she is going, and not drink bad beer -- or even good beer, that is to say, imported beer. If anyone should be carrying a concealed weapon - it should have been the bus driver. Why. She is not even allowed to drink beer.:-) Yours, Issodhos

Else, please leave my astral plane alone, if you please.

MSNBC It just gets worse The attacker must be mentally ill. or hungry i'msorryi'msorryi'msorry Martha!! Fanning self to hide the grin!! Actually, he is mentally ill. No one in their right mind would do something like this. I see no point in attempting to apply security measures on Greyhound buses in Canada in the same fashion you have applied Homeland Security everywhere. It is very rare that a person experiences a psychotic break, and I see no need to spend vast sums of money on security "...just in case....", nor do I see any reason to allow gun ownership in Canada, despite years of reading your rationales for gun ownership, for someone who has gone right off the deep end. The part of Manitoba the bus was traveling through is as isolated as any part of the American Plains. The Greyhound is used as a bus might be in the city to drive from one spot to another on the Prairies. From the little bit of attention I paid to this, the bus was carrying mostly young people, children and elderly people. So don't heap scorn on those you know little of.
