Now, back to the Topic.

Netflix Movies. Have you seen:

Across the Universe? August West? Forbidden Kingdom?

Boney_Taters,

I suspect not as seriously as you, but who know?

why did you leave out the important part of my quote? Are you embarrassed that I saw what you said?

You responded with a school yard retort that was deleted, either by youself or by a mod. Either way, I know now, that you don't have a sense of humor and that you take yourself and these boards far too seriously.

There was no vitriol, except from your own keyboard.

I have been known to respond to insults in kind, and I would have, had I been on any number of other boards. Except this one seemed like it was different. Mellower. Nicer.

Yeah right.

same s*** different site.

2wins is right. This is a simple netflix thread. There is nothing contentious about that.
I would hate to have to lock this thread.
Cool off and quit with the personal attacks or I will though.

I did see "Across The Universe". Being a fan of Beatles music, I thought it was very clever how the used this groups songs to tell a story. Very well done.

Movie Pi

I have watched PI... it is actually one of the 6 or so DVDs I own.

I'm the kind of person that once I watch a movie, it's hard to watch it again (of course there are a few exceptions).

I spend saturday watching a few movies...

1) Meet Dave - just because I think Jessica Alba is hot - wouldn't recemment the movie to anyone

2) Hellboy 2 - another bad sequel... as if the first one was any good.

3) Hell Ride - Awesome movie, but then again I like biker movies and if you like Tarantino movies it is a must see. Movie written and directed by Larry Bishop. It is rated R and for good reasons... violence, nudity, sex and drugs. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411475/

4) Vice - a movie with Michael Madsen and it's about corrupt cops. Low budget but I enjoyed it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0762145/

Did any of you recommend or even mention a film named An American Crime? When I first put it on my netflix list, it had a long wait, so it obviously intrigued some viewers. This weekend the "long wait" ended, I watched it, and now it won't go away. It's based on a 1964 crime in Indiana where a woman with 6 children agrees to take care of 2 other girls whose parents work the carnival circuit and ultimately tortures one of them to death. It's grisly; I almost stopped watching at the first cigarette-burn scene. But I didn't.

Now I'm trying to figure out where I heard of it and how it appealed to me. It was made by people from Sweden and must have played on TV because IMDB reports it was up for a primetime Emmy. It's horribly interesting in terms of psychology--at leastto me--and perhaps because it's so understated.

Mostly I'm hoping that if I can figure out why I watched it, it will stop haunting me. Meanwhile I'm fighting an urge to watch it again because there has to be some logic behind what happened and I want to figure out what it was.

I wouldn't take the above as a recommendation--although its impact sure hit me upside my head.

Same thing sort of happend to me with this movie.

At some point, I could not keep watching, and so forwarded to the end.

It is just a horrible horrible story. More so because it is true. I think if it was a fictional horror film, maybe some people would want to ban it because it is so disturbing.

The issue that this fil raises for me is that apparently ordinary people are capable of incredible cruelty.
