Iss, could you please detail the experience that McCain has that Obama lacks?
(I know I'm not Iss, but...)
...until recently I would have said he is definitely more experienced at twisting words, reversing direction, putting outright lies out in major ads - getting people to believe them all, and getting away with it.
But in the last week or two, I'd have to say he's not really getting away with it, so much anymore... and though it remains to be seen, people seem to have a harder time actually believing him now.
Back in 2000 he appeared to be one of the rare Republicans that I actually considered voting for... until the Bob Jones University incident... and especially, how he handled it.
Now, his decisions just seem to be bizarre... picking Palin was one, saying he'd fire Cox as president (which seemed to be more knee-jerk than anything, and that's if the Prez *could* fire him - which he can't), and now this "I'll suspend my campaign and postpone the debate so I can look like I'm doing something gravely important". I remember his 2000 campaign had a few bizarre twists, and didn't he go through 2 or 3 complete campaign teams about this time last year?
This 'maverick' looks more and more like he's found himself in a box canyon with the cowboys closing in...
Oh, back to experience, right...
Uh... he seems to be pretty facile at diverting attention? Kind of like Bush? And as Senator, he did do that campaign reform deal, with Feingold... and the Keating S&L deal was pretty skillful, he knew exactly when to cut and run out on that deal, better than the other co-conspirators.
I do have to give him credit for sticking with "more troops" in Iraq at the end, which has helped make a bad situation a little better, at least for now. I don't recall, did he support Zinni or whoever it was that called for 300,000 to 500,000 troops at the beginning, to not let the situation not get out of hand from the beginning?
