If You Aren't Doing Anything Wrong,...ghts. Probably Shouldn't Do That, EitherThe Maryland State Police classified 53 nonviolent activists as terrorists and entered their names and personal information into state and federal databases that track terrorism suspects, the state police chief acknowledged yesterday.
Police Superintendent Terrence B. Sheridan revealed at a legislative hearing that the surveillance operation, which targeted opponents of the death penalty and the Iraq war, was far more extensive than was known when its existence was disclosed in July. As if nobody didn't see this coming....

We still have greatest constitution in the world! That we do... but the way it is interperted by the current administration leaves a lot to be desired.

That we do... but the way it is interperted by the current administration leaves a lot to be desired. The constitution, being somewhat more advanced reading than "My Pet Goat", has actually received very little review by the current administration.

Reading this made me go and read this... I don't know how I am doing it, but I have managed to feel a brand new emotion in these last 8 years. It is equal parts rage, apathy, terror, and excitement. I'm feeling very "r.a.t.e." right now at this point in history, but in reality, I think I am more excited to be living in these trying times for the very fact that they are trying. I chose my username to express that I am Fruity because I'm so gay I can change a $9 bill with 3's, and Nutty because I think our whole "system of valuation," per se the global paradigm under which we all exist, is totally screwy and should be scrapped ASAP for something more akin to "universal view" or philosophy, if you will, of Star Trek: TNG... A couple of things... I know I'm really going off topic here tangentially, but bear with me... Check out the National Geographic series Guns, Germs & Steel (or read the book upon which the series is based) and then read the Shock Doctrine by Naomi Kline, mix in a bong hit and some jazz and tell me not why there are haves and have-nots, but why we are putting up with a system that perpetuates this enslavement. Just because there always "has been" doesn't mean there always "has to be." The Econmony, the Police State, the Climate is all going to get a lot worse before it gets better, or so I keep hearing "it's going to get better"... But what exactly is better? A return to the 80's? the 90's? the 50's? No, what we need is a fundamental change in our world view akin to going from cave-dwelling shamen to being people who truly understand the implications of the duality of Light. Obama is beating the right instrument, Change, but he is playing the wrong tune to my ears; alas he still has my vote. Of course after writing all of this and posting my views to this forum, I most likely have been branded a terrorist on someone's list somewhere. Actually I'm okay with that... At least I am a gay terrorist, and my weapons are massively fabulous... kisses, F&N ... you can have the thread back now. Thank you.

( Just kidding ) _____________ numan, What's your point? You seem to have a hair across your butt regarding the US Constitution. I've asked you before what do find wrong with it and how would you improve it, but you haven't answered my question. So, I'm asking you again, what do you find wrong with it and how would you improve it? Previously you replied that any parliamentary system would be okay, which doesn't answer my question. So, do you approve of how Britain has been turned into a police state, despite having a Parliamentary system? The US has become a Banana Republic, but that's a result of our "leaders" rather than the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. numan, I'm asking you a direct question and I'll appreciate it if you'd give me a direct answer: Specifically, what's wrong with the US Constitution? And, please give some specific recommendations as to how to remedy what you regard as it's failings. Thank you. Joe

The argument that if you've done nothing wrong then you don't have nothing to hide can also be applied to torture, too. If you haven't got anything to hide, then you won't mind a hot poker up your keister to prove that you're innocent? Hey, didn't they do that to some goat herders that some warlords sold to the US probably on a per turban basis? Hmmm, I wonder if they'll ever use that same argument here someday?
