Oh come on folks, the politicians in DC have been f*cking over veterans for 200 years. This is not a news flash. I knew that because both of my parents were Army vets from WW-II and Korea. I didn't serve back in the early 80s for the benefits. Democrats, Republicans, it doesn't matter who they are. We go out, serve our country, get wounded, and some die. They didn't do it for politicians in DC. We did it for you. We expect to get the short end of the stick. So don't start whining about our benefits now. such is the life of an imperial legionary

You are attempting to conflate just which side of the political bipolarity balks at funding the VA properly. Again, back to the previously cited Stabenow Amendment: Larry Craig, dancing around as he first states that vets are entitled, yet does not want to create a new "entitlement" for them. This is pure unadulterated BS. Mr. Craig: Mr. President, our veterans deserve all a grateful nation can give them. Over the last 6 years we have increased the Veterans budget by over $3 billion a year. Although the Senator from Michigan is right about the dustup this year, we still did it because America is grateful for those who serve in harm's way. While all veterans are entitled, should we start a new entitlement program, one that is now out of control, that we cannot monitor on a yearly basis as we do through the appropriating process and the authorizing process? The Senator is proposing a new entitlement program. But she is also saying something else. She is not saying those who served is the baseline of the formula. She is saying those who are entitled. And there is a very real difference between those who are entitled and eligible versus those who seek service because of need. We pay for those who seek service based on their eligibility. We do not create a new entitlement program. Ask yourselves, do you want to create a new entitlement program or do you want to do what we are doing now, providing the necessary resources on an annual basis to meet the needs of America's veterans? I ask Members to vote no. Do not waive the Budget Act. Do not create a new entitlement program and basically take it out of the hands of the Congress and put it in the hands of the VA. That is not what I think our veterans would want us to do. A) No, I have not elected to use my veterean's benefits, because I don't need them. I'm glad that you are taking advantge of them, you earned that.
B) Too bad that your veterans benefits are being pissed away on people that didn't do a damn thing to earn them.
C) As someone who has spent a lot of time at Walter Reed Hospital with our kids who are severly screwed up because of their call to war. I'm glad that the VA is looking at things in a different light.
D) Maybe this VA card will help them. A) Sign up, get your baseline examination just in case the company you work for decides to stop paying for health benefits. B) My veterans' benefits are being utilized by me. Who are you referring to? C) Wars create casualties. It's a fact of life or death as the case can be. What is REALLY needed now is better leaders to make sure that when our forces are used in a conflict, that it is as a last resort. Not as a pre-emptive strike based on LIES. D) Not according to all the Veterans' Organizations, including but not limited to the VFW and the DAV.
