They can all be pardoned for anything they did before the pardon is granted. But they can be prosecuted for perjury if they lie under oath and they can be prosecuted for contempt if they fail to respond to a subpeona issued by a Grand Jury, Special Prosecutor, or Congressional Committee investigation AFTER January 20th. They could also be prosecuted for any destruction of evidence or obstruction of justice that they commit after their pardon is granted.
So it will be possible to get the truth about every crime committed by Bush administration people, up to and including the President. And even if they can't be prosecuted for those offenses, the truth can still end their careers and destroy their reputations now and forever. That's certainly worth persuing.

As usual, we kick the vampire who is already down on the ground, rather than the ones who are still flapping their wings.
- You haven't been watching all the blood the current vampire is sucking out of our body politic with their end of term regulations and end of administration conversion of political appointees to career status? Only reason the current vampire is on the ground is because that's where all of us are as a result of all they have done to our nation!

Only reason the current vampire is on the ground is because that's where all of us are as a result of all they have done to our nation! I was not sufficiently clear. I was referring to Rumsfeld as opposed to his quondam buddies. Bush is, unfortunately, still flapping his wings. I agree very strongly with Pondering-it-all. No matter what pardons these vampiric wretches receive, they can be confronted with the truth, forced to admit their crimes, or charged with perjury or other crimes committed after they leave office. The question is: do we have the guts to purge the Augean Stables of our body politic, or will we just leave the filth to fester and breed future disease? A question for those adept in the law: If a person receives a pardon, are they then immune from civil suits brought by someone who has been harmed by his crimes, or can the victim seek redress? -

They are not immune and the SCOTUS now has before it a case challenging the right of a person wronged to sue such officials.

Some of this makes me feel a tiny ray of hope, at least. Although to be honest the country is so screwed up right now that it's highly possible the new crew will be too busy plugging holes to worry about the culprits who drilled them.
I guess, as with anything else, we wait and see.

Amazing how many holes you can plug quickly by using the correct sealant!!! Have been watching new teams come in since Nixon in 68 but I've never seen one like this. I fully expect to be mind boggled by April.
