Oh, I have a New Year's gift to share...

Some of you have shared my interest in ted.com, a site featuring video presentations in widely varying areas (ted stands for "technology, entertainment, and design").

A presentation there by a terrific photographer has led me to Bridges to Understanding. This is a website featuring short digital videos created by young people all around the world. I just finished watching a short piece by a Tibetan girl about kitchen duty in the Tibetan Children's Home in Dharamsala. Another is by a 19-year-old Ecuadoran, about the landslides that struck his village after Hurricane Stan.

This is a terrific website; I'm so glad I found it!

The original ted talk was by Phil Borges, a photographer who specializes in dying cultures. His photos are well worth checking out, but I think 'Bridges' may end up being his best work.

Talk about the "Feel-good movie(s) of the year!"
