In his own words, Trump proves he is a traitor to AmericaThe Justice Department has a documented recording of him admitting he had classified documents after he left the presidency and said he wanted to share them but, as an ex-president, had not authority to do so.By DOUG THOMPSONJune 1, 2023 ![[Linked Image from capitolhillblue.com]](http://capitolhillblue.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/011122-trump-jail.jpg) Where Trump and his collaborators belong. (Getty Images/Salon) Latest reports about disgraced and criminally-indicted former president Donald Trump clearly show he is once again blabbing too much into a recording, this time in an interview with ghostwriters for a biography by former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in 2021, several months after leaving office. According to reports from multiple credible news sources — including CNN, the Washington Post, New York Times and others — Trump admitted having a classified document in his possession and he knew the classifications were in effect. The interview was recorded, in part, because of Trump’s demands that he be recorded because he “doesn’t trust the press.” Reports CNN: The recording indicates Trump understood he retained classified material after leaving the White House, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation. On the recording, Trump’s comments suggest he would like to share the information but he’s aware of limitations on his ability post-presidency to declassify records, two of the sources said.
One source said the relevant portion on the Iran document is about two minutes long, and another source said the discussion is a small part of a much longer meeting.
Special counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the Justice Department investigation into Trump, has focused on the meeting as part of the criminal investigation into Trump’s handling of national security secrets. Sources describe the recording as an “important” piece of evidence in a possible case against Trump, who has repeatedly asserted he could retain presidential records and “automatically” declassify documents.capitolhillblue.com/wp- --CNN The New York Times adds: The existence of the recording could undermine Mr. Trump’s repeated claim that he had already declassified material that remained in his possession after he left office. Prosecutors are scrutinizing whether Mr. Trump obstructed efforts by federal officials to retrieve documents he took with him after leaving office and whether he violated laws governing the handling of classified material.
On the recording, Mr. Trump began railing about his handpicked chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Milley, who was described in media accounts at the time as having guarded against Mr. Trump’s striking Iran in the final days of the presidency, according to the people briefed on the matter.
Mr. Trump then began referencing a document that he had with him, saying that it had been compiled by General Milley and was related to attacking Iran, the people briefed on the matter said. Among other comments, he mentioned his classification abilities during the discussion, one person briefed on the matter said. Mr. Trump can be heard handling paper on the tape, though it is not clear whether it was the document in question.
The Justice Department obtained the recording in recent months, a potentially key piece in a mountain of evidence that prosecutors have amassed under the special counsel, Jack Smith, since he was appointed in November to oversee the federal investigations into Mr. Trump.
–The New York Times It is clear that the two things keep plunging Trump deeper and deeper into the legal morass that is likely send him to federal prison are: His big mouth and recordings that document he continues to lie about his illegal and treasonous actions. Legal experts say the recording provides clear and credible action that Trump violated the United States Espionage Act. They note that others convicted of such crimes have gone to prison and are considered traitors to America. It clearly shows that a former president of this nation is a traitor. Yet the brain-dead MAGA base of his supporters continue to support him and want him to recapture the White House in 2024. Does that support qualify them as traitors as well? The a growing number of Americans, polls show, say yes. A clear majority now feels he has committed serious crimes against this nation and most of them — Democrats, Republicans and independents — want him barred from running for president again, convicted and thrown into federal prison. Yet he is still considered the frontrunner for the GOP nomination for president in the 2024 election and his closest competitor is the equally-dangerous, rabid-right-wing Ron DeSantis, who wants to drag this nation back into the puritanical dark ages. America is, indeed, a nation in peril. _____________________________ Copyright © 2023 Capitol Hill Blue

As always it eventually boils down to how many of these outraged Americans are willing to get up, go to the polls, and vote, only this time around, for many in the marginalized communities of our red states, that voting opportunity is more demanding and harder to find than ever. It's still well worth the effort, maybe more now than ever.

If a Republican (including Trump himself) wins next election they will as a first act pardon Trump of all alleged or jury convicted crimes. If convicted he will probably have an army of attorneys keep him out of an orange jumpsuit, until he dies or a Republican wins the general election.
Republicans have apparently installed enough legal infrastructure to ensure no Democrat can ever win an election regardless of the actual vote. Partisan Republicans are in control of election boards, which can throw out votes it deems inappropriate for whatever reason, or partisan legislative initiatives which preclude any Democrat to ever win an election. I now predict if a Democrat were to have all the votes a Republican would be declared winner.
It can now be concluded Trump is indeed above the law and Republicans believe they are as well.
Sorry folks the delusional crazies have won. Democracy is dead in America .... and yes, I am the mad man from the mountains.

I think Trump has much less support among Republican politicians than they claim. Yes, they have to appear to support Trump to try to get his base to vote for them. But it's pretty obvious they expect him to either drop out or get forced out before the primaries. That's why a bunch of them have announced their own run for President. They are actually rubbing their hands in glee now that his indictment is out.
If Trump is not on the ballot, I think a lot of Trumpers will just stay home on election day out of grief, anger, or disgust. Why would they vote for Republicans, who have little to do with Trumpism? Letting Trump actually run would be a major disaster for Republicans. I imagine they would lose both Houses and the presidency, as well as a lot of state races.
Other predictions: Loss of security clearances for anybody who publicly claims violation of the Espionage Act is no big deal. Indictments for a whole bunch of people in the conspiracy to overthrow the 2020 election. New Democratic majorities change Senate rules so they can restore the rights of pregnant women and include a "don't touch" clause for the Supreme Court. (Which they have the right to do.) New law that forces the Supreme Court to obey ethics rules. In general, try to fix everything Trump broke.

No special conditions of release at Trump's arraignment, but the judge did order him not to have contact with any witness in the case. That is SOP in these cases, but in Trump's case this is going to be very difficult. So many of his employees have been witnesses before the grand jury that he's very likely to violate this order. This includes Walt Nauta, his right-hand man and co-defendant. The Secret Service is going to have to reassign some of his protective agents immediately.
My opinion: When he screws up, he goes back to court and the judge can order other conditions. When he screws up again, he could get pre-trial detention. I think this is inevitable.

It's worse than I thought. If Judge Cannon presides, she may disallow evidence, especially attorney evidence, which is critical for case, and then she may vacant a probably conviction (if not done through nullification) by sustaining motion for judgement notwithstanding verdict, which of course she will set Trump free.
Weaponization .... Rep Jordan and Comer ... look no further than Trump's judicial appointees subverting the law for the benefit of Trump's criminal activities.

That's a psychological term where a person accuses others of doing the very thing the accuser they themself is doing. Jordan and Comer are projecting. Donald Trump projects nearly every day. These people are sick and they're complete and utter depraved sociopaths.
