This is a link to a pretty good article on insulin. I have really never understood who people just don't buy insulin from Canada or Mexico. I remember when the congress tried to make that against the law but, I think, its still legal to do. That is discussed in the article below. I also seem to remember when one state was going to setup a facility to make insulin as well (it went nowhere but was a good idea)

Anyway, there are all these people who can probably pay for insulin from Canada or Mexico. I remember when my wife needed a drug and she bought it in Canada because it was half of what the greedy pharms here were charging. Had no problems at all. In her situation she just took the ferry to Victoria, picked a drugstore and asked them what to do and set it up. they wanted a prescription and an address and that was that.

I'm assuming that you heard that California is about to start making its own insulins and I think it's an excellent idea for any large state to do this for their residents. I doubt Florida or Texas will lift a finger but New York, Illinois, Minnesota, even Colorado could take advantage of an operation like this.

Ask Paul Weyrich about that.

But just the fact that some NON-voters are the biggest, loudest, angriest, most vindictive whiners on the face of the Earth, that chaps my ass pretty good.

Know what else burns my ass?

Good article! It's nice to see that California will not have many legal barriers when they start to make their insulins.

I'm in a weird situation, diabetes-wise. My dad died from Type II diabetes complications. Since I was a kid, doctors have always found sugar in my urine, so they labelled me "pre-diabetic", yet I've never once in my life had a glucose tolerance test or A1C test that said I had high blood sugar! I've also never had any metabolic symptoms of diabetes. Apparently, I have "leaky kidneys": Any time I eat a lot of sugar or carbohydrate that breakdown into sugar, I pee it right out. So as long as my kidneys are still working, I seem to be "diabetes-proof".

You should probably get a meter and test your blood sugar when that happens. Having spikes or valleys can be very serious.
