I've been away from CHB for a while despite being an early member. Now I find that I can't read CHB from my android devices. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Seems to point me to WordPress as though I'm the site creator.

Anyway, I regularly attempt reading the Rant on my Android smartphone but I have to go horizontal and zoom the page slightly to make it readable to my aging eyes.

So, it apparently does "work" on Android, but one must define the meaning of "works".
So, if you're saying it doesn't even show up, maybe try installing Chrome browser? That's what I am using on my Android smartphone and tablets.

The only other thing I can suggest is the possibility that it is way past time for the Rant to update the forum's software, but that is probably something I would be afraid to attempt. Perhaps Doug Thompson might consider doing the upgrade someday soon.

Anyway, I sure do hope you jump back in, I found an old thread from back when you were a regular and it's definitely still relevant today. It was about minimum wage.

Dude, you were absolutely right.
I just tried accessing the HOME page for CHB and sure enough, it thinks I am a WordPress blogger with a buggy account.

Whoo boy, I'll let Mr. Thompson know, he might not even realize it, or...the solution might be more pricey than he feels jazzed about forking over.
Either way watch this space, I guess.

Doug Thompson messaged me back and stated that he had been unaware of the Android issue...assuming as it loaded correctly on his iPhone all was well. He is looking into whether or not there is a solution for Android or to see if it's just an accidental error message.

That's it so far, but I sure do hope you'll visit the Rant and stick around. When I hear back from Doug again, I'll certainly post here again with any news.

I tried CHB on my Android phone, and got the same message. I can't check my tablet, because I broke it.

I found them here but apparently a lot of your old posts are missing on the server.

I can see your posts back to 11/6/06 on that link so at least you are documented in our archives even if you cant see them...whether they are all there remains to be seen, and with our creaky old software that predates smart phones by several decades, you may never see them on an android device.

Rejoice, my friend, that you are able to post at all on this venerable old website. When you think of us...think of IBM cards racing through a counting machine, think of computers the size of houses, think of lights dimming all over town each time it does an internet search.

That's us, online since 1664, join the fray...there's no paywall, you can rant as many times as you want. If you type like me on a cell phone they will probably fairly short and to the point...

So, no access to a laptop or other Windows device, I take it...
I wish I could figure out the needed magic to make Android work on the Rant, but it's beyond my capabilities and beyond my authority too.

I'll try to nudge Doug again, see if there are any developments.

So now I know that it IS possible to access the Rant on an Android phone. Now the question is, what's preventing YOUR Android phone from doing the same?

Rant always worked. Just this week chb started working for new articles, but not for old ones. Sure, I have computers, but I don't sit and browse on them.
