The world's longest aircraft - the Airlander 10 - has been damaged after nosediving on landing during its second test flight.

The 302ft (92m) long aircraft - which is part plane and part airship - was damaged during the flight from Cardington Airfield in Bedfordshire.

I think we probably should do a better job of conserving Helium. There's really only so much underground, and one we piss it all away on balloons (little and huge) it is impossible to recover from the atmosphere because solar activity kicks it off into space.

We might be able to mine it on the moon, and we could make a tiny bit by alpha-decay. But very soon it will be effectively gone.

The government reserve is almost depleted. All the rest is in private hands.

But the point is that it is a primal non-renewed resource and the end is in sight. Once it is used it ends up lost to space. Of course we have an almost infinite supply of hydrogen, as far as lift goes. It's actually a lot lighter than helium. And we have loads of argon for Nobel gas uses.
