I almost went to Port Angeles once, but only got as far as Kingston and took the ferry back to Edmonds, then back to Tacoma.

Went to the San Juans for 4th of July weekend this year. That was fun.

Tried to move this to messages - all filled up..........

Have you been to the state surplus store in Olympia? Bargains galore! I went up there once and they were selling plush white terry bathrobes for under 5 bucks each. They were all size 56. I bought a pile of them and gave them to friends. Everybody loved them. its also where the stuff taken by the tsa at airports. They always have piles of knives for sale (knife collectors love that place <g>)

Google "washington state surplus store" for info (& more for other surplus places)

Size 56 is a GREAT size! Its like wearing a huge blanket with arms <G> I am not even sure it wasn't size 58. Whatever it was it fit EVERYBODY!

OH, you gotta get out more!

My wife and I went to the Port Angeles Story Tellers festival some years back. We were doing a Pacific Northwest grand tour, with a concentration on parks and botanical gardens. Loved the National Park. Then we took the ferry to Victoria and continued our tour.

Yes, that's the main reason we drove around the peninsula, hiking in the rain forest. The story tellers festival was just a serendipitous event on the spur of the moment.

We also hiked around on Shasta a bit and took the ferry over to see the Butchart Gardens. Didn't go up in the Space Needle: Did that in 1961!

Was there a long time ago as a teenager. I remember some bits of it very clearly, it was a magical place.

I was in Seattle for a wedding back in the early 80's and went up in the Space Needle. My only clear memory of that is I made an elevator related pun that the operator had never heard, and he had a really good laugh - I was so proud! Can't remember what it was, though...

I saw where the current snow pack, in the Cascades is something like 14% of normal. If it doesn't get any better there are going to be a LOT of people out of water. Where I live the Olympic Mountains have approximately 22% of the normal snow pack.

We are going to have a pretty interesting summer................
