That Supreme Court decision may be the final push toward Puerto Rico statehood. They may have resisted statehood because they got federal benefits without a lot of taxes. But they ARE legal US citizens, and they can move to the mainland and have full rights and benefits. Now there is no advantage at all to remaining a territory. That would mean two more Senators and three more Representatives, all of whom are likely to be Democrats. Republicans should be more careful what they wish for.
If DIsney decides to open a theme park of some kind, even a smaller one, that's going to mean a massive investment in things like infrastructure and training, all kinds of related jobs and industries to serve the park and the people who come to visit. I have a hunch it would also mean Disney helping the push for statehood, just as long as they get another nice carve-out of some kind.
And the tie-ins would be endless, Disney Puerto Rico cruises, Disney hotels, even Disney themed restaurants and air travel packages. The tourism bucks would be ---- yuuuuuuge.

Here an article on how the process of statehood works along with how other territories became states. This article deals with Puerto Rico statehood. If it's going to happen, it better happen prior to the midterms.
But like I said before, I don't think the Democrats have the numbers to push this through, especially in the senate. But we'll see. Time as it passes by, reveals all.
It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
It certainly seems like Puerto Rico has met all the requirements for statehood. I think both Houses of Congress could vote for it on Monday, and President Biden would sign the bill right away. I wonder if the 51-star flag design is ready. Maybe a 52-star flag would look nicer?
Regarding Florida Republicans attacking Disney's special district: I've read that the counties are not at all in favor, because all of the district's debt would become Orange and Osceola County's debt. I wonder if they could create a new Disney County out of parts of the existing counties to shoulder that substantial debt.
I also find it strange that Disneyland and Disney World are both located in Orange Counties in both California and Florida. And why is Disneyland one word, while Disney World is two?
Last revisited by the news "industry" a year ago. I dunno, if I was an editor in chief I'd think that was a really long legged story that could blossom with good ratings. What was it Robert Duvall called the new Beale show in "Network"?
I dunno folks...you'd think that would be a big titted hit story, the big arms cache stashed across the river, ready for its moment of glory, activation of a civil war reenactment only with live fire and barenaked intent, waiting for the signal, the signal from Mount Olympus on Pennsylvania Avenue, from inside The Pentagon, the FBI, from inside local law enforcement , even from inside the Secret Service... and from inside Capitol Hill itself.
Don't think it could ever happen again? Really? You people sure about that? And this armed strike force across the river thing is

Pretty sure. It was an abject failure.
The entire, dreary episode that began when He floated down that escalator like Deus ex machina and ended with the Capital Riot was one of the biggest political flukes in the history of any age.

Have you ever wondered why Walt Disney's grandparents are buried in Florida?
I keep wondering why anybody at all is buried in green cemeteries, and why there all these green golf courses in California when we are all being told to just take 30 second showers once a week.

Not until now...
