Link to short video of wingnut rant Does this guy make racist statements in his rant? Is the message of his rant racist? Frankly, I really don't care. All I know is that I needed a shower after watching this assclown.

Sort of interesting.... you listen to this guy and he says that the up coming election will be critical for the future of the nation.
Progressives seem to think that the upcoming election will make no difference because it does not matter who is elected (Republican or Democrat).
I wonder who will turn out to be right?

Does this guy make racist statements Well, yes. I think he does: "Living like rats in our neighborhoods" I don't think he cares whether brown skinned people carry green cards or whether they are US citizens. Neither do I believe that any inexpensive rental property in his neighborhood is infected with illegal Mexican immigrants. Overall, kind of amusing. He's preaching to the same choir he sings in though, messages like this will not gain Republican votes and will not sell the agenda he and his very color conscious congregation are pushing: That of angry white people taking back their America.
Good coffee, good weed, and time on my hands...

Obama may be disappointing, but it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. Racists, on the other hand, have come out of the woodwork. I live in Arizona, I see it first hand.
There was a time, a long time, that I never received any racist email. These days, I receive maybe one racist email a week, often in the form of a "joke", as if somehow that makes racism and hatred acceptable. Now they are going after Hispanics/Latinos/Chicanos. Judging from the amount of racist jokes forwarded to me, it appears that hatred of Hispanics is ramping up to national balls to the wall nastiness.
When the illegal thing quickly turned to hatred of illegals, I knew it wouldn't be long before the hate would transfer to a general hatred of brown skinned people. Next it will be the Jews and after that, Roman Catholics, and then I suppose they'll begin hating the Buddhists.
I've been an independent for a while now. If I see a good Libertarian or Republican at the local level I won't have a problem voting for them. I only know a few. Nationally, I would never vote for a Republican. The GOP has failed completely to disconnect and distance their party from Christian zealots, evangelicals, neocons, Zionist, fascists and other organized forms of mentally instability.
The nutcase in the opening thread is just another example of racial hatred. Like pornography, you know what it is when you see it.

Sorry to say that I am seeing the same thing up here in blond-land. Was planning to join a local club until the head of the group made a crack about minorities. We had a "chat" about racism. And then I left. For good.

I found the setting interesting. I wonder to whom he thought a yacht club would appeal?

Sorry to say that I am seeing the same thing up here in blond-land. Was planning to join a local club until the head of the group made a crack about minorities. We had a "chat" about racism. And then I left. For good. Occasionally something like that happens to me also.... I am sometimes a little flummoxed on how to respond. In both cases it was in a work situation... so I did not feel comfortable being confrontational about it... and both time it was really a surprise since both people seemed otherwise to be very pleasant, even bland individuals. I just did not expect for them to let loose with blatant racism. Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this in a work situation where you cannot afford to provoke a tense situation?

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." ~ Edmund Burke
It is never a comfortable place to be; work, family, neighborhood, community. For me, a private, a one-on-one conversation is the place to start. Public confrontation involves way too much ego and loss of face.
There is an approach for giving feedback. I always think of it as a sandwich. You start by saying something that you truly like about the person.
"I really admire you when you......"
Then you put in the meat of the issue.
"However, I am really uncomfortable when I hear you say......"
Then back to the bread.
"I really appreciate what you...."
Sounds kind of simplistic. The key is to be honest in each of the three parts. If you try to fake it, people's bullshit meters go off the chart.

Welcome to my world. I can't tell you guys just how many people I know right here in good ole Texas who would applaud the jerk in the video who has self-appointed himself spokesperson for "60 million" voters.
In fact, I've had to basically avoid my best friend of 50 years because he fosters many of the very same beliefs as the dirtwad in the video. I hate this situation as he hasn't been Mr. Bigot/Racist on steroids until the last 10 years. Never heard him talk with such hatred before.
What a waste of the human experience to lower one's self to such bullsh!t.
I'm like Jeff...it was hard to watch.
