Lots of infighting and negotiation going on with Democrats.

I'm turning 70 years old in November, and Social Security notified me they have approved my claim. I was getting spousal benefits from my wife's earlier claim, but now we get to switch roles and she gets to claim spousal benefits from me. The next big financial move is starting MRDs from a Fidelity SEP-IRA in a couple of years, but I suspect they will start that without me requesting it.

I'm gonna have several hundred thousand smackeroos drop into my account In December and it's liable to upset my carefully curated ruse as a pauper. I'm sure the CPAs will sort it out and put most of it in a safe place because I have no understanding, nor any desire to understand intelligent money management.

I've already got my eye on a sporty new wheelchair, reportedly capable of achieving a blistering 6 mph!

Some turbo-wheelchairs may not be ready for prime time!

Greger - congratulations. Might want to get one with detachable fins, and a side car for Roscoe (only when hers walked too far.)

Rick - I think my doctor recommended the shingles shot because I had shingles, long ago. Very painful and I don’t want them again. I’ll have to have a follow-up in December.

I started getting the flu shot years ago; it was required for access to Dad’s nursing home. I quit after he died, and then…I got the flu. Almost sicker than I’ve ever been, I gtflu shots every year now.

I have an 84 year old friend in the Bay Area's who has had an ex-partner live with him for 15+ years. That partner passed last night at the my friends house.

My friend in inconsolable and I can't get much information from him. He has Parkinson's and he uses a walker right now. I feel like I should go down and be with him, but at work right now we're in "blackout" due to the holidays and time-off is not permitted. We need to support the warehouses.

Hmm

I get the flu shot every year. My honey is high risk. Ironically, last night was spent nursing my son who was throwing up half the night. He's better now.

My wife, Sarah, has been using a Go Go Traveler Elite scooter for nearly a decade. It is not kidding about scooting! Not sure what the top speed is, but when she's in a hurry, I can't keep up. The nice thing, though, is that it breaks down into manageable pieces for transportation. I usually leave three pieces together, but I take off the battery and seat. All together it's 105 lbs, but each piece is about 30-35 lbs.

I have not yet gotten pneumonia or shingles shots, but will when eligible. I had everything as a kid - measles, mumps, and chicken pox. I guess that means I was "sickly".

By the way, I've invested wisely during my "youth", so I am now withdrawing monthly from my retirement funds, keeping it under 5% per anum. So far, the increase in value has exceeded withdrawals. 4-5% of the principle is usually safe for withdrawal without eating into it - unless you are invested in Treasuries. (I trained as a financial planner, but never opted to get a CFP.)

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Oh, Rick, I'm so sorry. It's really hard to not be able to "be there" when someone really needs you.
