She lost a primary election, but won the respect and thanks of most Americans who want to see Trump convicted and pay for his many crimes

Past president named Trump Tuesday in the state’s primary, defeating Rep. Liz Cheney, a Republican who put the nation above the punitive, pathetic treasonous Trump and his many seditious acts.

In Alaska, however, Sen. Liz Cheney collected more votes than the Trumpite and former Gov. Sarah Palin, who quit her job and abandoned her state in search of political fame that was in Washington, DC. finished second in her bid to become the single representative in the House. The races continue with Murkowski facing the woman she beat Tuesday night and Palin has two opponents who want to keep her out of Congress and, with luck, out of their lives.

Such is the state of politics in America, a struggling nation torn by partisanship driven by a con man who served as an ineffective and conniving president from 2017-2021 before losing to Joe Biden in the November 2000 election.

The power Trump has over Republicans is proof of the greed, selfishness, fear, and hate of too many voters who would rather serve a crook because he is a Republican while they don’t care about the damage he has and will continue to inflict on America.

“Over 70% of the state of Wyoming voted Republican in the last presidential election, and she turned right around and voted against us,” said Jackson Hotel Manager Dan Winder told the Associated Press. “She was our representative, not her own.”

That’s a load of pure, partisan bullshit. Like Trump, Winder is a damn liar. Yes, Cheney voted for the impeachment of Trump and serves as co-chair of the select committee that is investigating his many crimes. But House records show she voted with Trump and the Republicans 93% of the time while serving in Congress and for the state almost 100% over the years.

Like reasonable, sensible Americans, however, she came to realize he was a con man, crook, and fraud who looted the U.S. treasury for his personal benefit. He illegally kept Top Secret and sensitive documents at his estate at Mar-a-Lago in Florida and is under investigation in Washington, Atlanta, and Manhattan for tax fraud and more.

I can call out the flaky, extremist, hardcore right-wing Republicans because I worked for them while in Congress from 1981 through 1987 as an operative for the group’s Congressional, Senate and Committee operations and taught, for five years at the Campaign Academy operated by GOP. I saw power-mad Newt Gingrich use a promise of term limits that he never used to deploy to help put the party in control of Congress during the 1994 elections, the start of the downward slide of his party into a toxic dump of corruption, ethics violations, and criminality.

That was the year I walked away from politics and anything that claimed to be Republican. It was the year I also quit drinking and joined Alcoholics Anonymous and haven’t been near a drink for 28 years, two months, and 12 days (as of this writing). Interestingly, Gingrich’s shoddy period as Speaker of the House came to an abrupt end when he was caught in ethics violations on a personally-promoting book deal and an adulterous affair with a House committee staffer who is now his latest wife.

Anyone with an IQ of an average plant should recognize a con and a crook like the corrupt Donald J. Trump. Obviously, Dan Winder doesn’t qualify. Neither do the majority of questionable GOP voters in Wyoming. Fortunately, Liz Cheney and others who put the safety, security, and love of this country put their politics aside and will continue to work to serve justice, not the corruption of a documented and proven liar like Trump until the Select Committee completes its work before the end of the year.

Will that work when Trump runs for another shot at the presidency in 2024? Let’s hope and pray that cannot happen. If America is still a land of laws and justice, he and others who serve his criminal intent will be felons by then and behind bars.

In the end, it wasn’t close. Liz Cheney lost her seat last Tuesday to Donald Trump-endorsed candidate Harriet Hageman who crushed Cheney 68.3 percent to 28.9 percent. Hageman carried every county but Albany and Teton.

Liz Cheney was once considered Republican royalty. Now Liz Cheney has become a pariah in her own party over her membership of the congressional panel investigating the January 6 assault on the US Capitol and Donald Trump's "Big Lie" and insurrection fomenting.

Liz Cheney is not some centrrist-liberal Republican, Liz voted with Trump 93% of the time, and Liz also chose not be align herself with today's Trumpian GOP.

Key to success in today's GOP is to lie and the extreme lie sets the narrative. It guarantees media notoriety that can be monetized - Donald Trump devised the mode - and, it provokes those who look down on lies - something many in today's GOP relish. It's called, "owning the Libs."

For four years, the GOP almost entirely ignored the chaos, the alienation of allies, the breaking of laws and norms, the flirtations with dictators, the comprehensive loss of America’s moral leadership, and the hollowness of Trump and his Trumpism

The GOPs fealty to Trump remains absolute. They happily worked alongside one of the most flagrant and systematic and powerful liar in this country’s history, and now, how can anyone be expected to believe a word the GOP says?

Trump, a meddlesome would be tyrant-king with tens of millions of followers, a leader of a neofascist movement that is literally threatening to uproot and destroy American democracy

Many Republican voters are already threatening right-wing terrorism and political violence, potentially on a massive scale if Trump is punished or faces significant consequences for his crimes. Some of Donald Trump's political cult followers are willing to kill and die at his command.

On social media, Republicans aren't celebrating a man who recently attacked an FBI office in Ohio as a Trumpist patriot. They're dismissing him as a false flag planted to paint the FBI in a flattering light.

According to Trump and his many enablers, there is no evidence that isn't planted or manufactured, no immoral act that is disqualifying, no act for which Trump himself or his GOP enablers can be held responsible.

Have the courage to be outraged at what the GOP has become. Outrage is not the absence of fear but the strength to persist and do the right thing despite it, just as Liz Cheney has done.

Frankly, I'm glad she's gone. She wielded a lot of power that her successor won't bring to the table.

Her successor is bringing antisemitism, The Big Lie, Qanon and fascism to the table, and with the help from the most powerful and wealthy dark corners of the world. Yes...world. We just watched these people do CPAC in Hungary and then invite Orban here, back to back.
If you think this is just Wyoming you'd be mistaken.

Exactly. That's the point of this thread - it's mostly the ENTIRE GOP now-a-days, and that's a problem for America and its fragile democracy.

Yes, woe is us, the end is nigh.

It's one House seat. It's a seat that will be held by a Republican for the foreseeable future.

She will vote just like any other republican. Including Liz Cheney. But without the powerful connections.

Whether she is a Nazi or believes the 2020 election was stolen is none of my affair.

Whether she believes all the political nonsense she reads on the internets, or believes that one political party should be in power and call all the shots is none of my affair.

Only how she votes matters. And I know exactly how she will vote.

You're missing the point Greger. It's not "just one Republican - it's all of them Katie™.

The new Trumpian GOP IS the problem. Please re-read Doug's post.

And what do you propose to do about all of them, Katie?

Remember, we live in a democracy. Old Joe can't just send them all to concentration camps and exterminate them.

How do you plan to stop them from voting if you don't think you have the numbers to defeat them at the ballot box?

What's your plan to seize control if you are beaten at the polls?

And will you change the name of your party then?

I suggest that your fear and loathing of all republicans (except Liz Cheney) is a useless waste of emotion because Democrats will ultimately triumph at the polls and a Golden Age of socialist reform will commence.

But not tomorrow. Not in November, not for a decade probably...we might well see DeSantis serve two terms before enough Americans are fed up with the Republican Party or the party evolves with the rest of the free world.

Maybe DeSantis will declare himself president for life and eliminate voting in favor of appointing all representatives himself.

Either way, it's a long way off and I don't see much reason to panic about which representative represents Wyoming.

Or that other Americans will vote differently from me.

That's how democracies work.

1. You never like my ideas - so I won't offer a proposal.
2. What do other decent societies do with pathological, lying sociopaths out to purposely harm other citizens?

Instilling fear is how Republican's control their people. I have no fear. I really don't. True, I do loathe pathological lying sociopaths. My bad. smile

Besides, if you have not noticed, I'm not a Republican. laugh
