All I'm going to say about (for now) DeSantis is this: Scott Walker

DeSantis is peaking too early, just as Scott Walker did. Where is Scott Walker now? LOL

Yes, Trump control a large segment of the Republican base. That is shrinking. Going by the polls, which by the way is about the only way to gauge public opinion or in this case Republican Party base of avid Trumpers. Trump’s very favorable rating among Republicans, I equate very favorable to be an avid Trumper. His very favorables have fallen to 41% today among Republicans vs. 65% back in January. His total favorable among Republicans, adding very favorable and somewhat favorable has also fallen from 81% down to 72%. Somewhat is hard to define, but very favorable is enthusiastic about Trump. Hence, me equating very favorable to avid Trump supporters. There’s little else to go on
Here's the problem. You have relied on how the polls were run. Thus they asked "Republicans" and you concluded that meant all Republican voters, which included MAGA heads. The Republican BASE is not Republican,. They simply vote Republican because they can't bring themselves to vote for Democrats. Democrats do not represent the values of the deplorables, but neither do the Republican Party, however, Trump speaks for the BASE. He is in tune with their deplorabishness. The MAGA heads are not Republicans!!!!!

Real Republicans have since 2016 have never had a favorable opinion of Trump, but they realized the BASE was necessary for them to win anything. If Trump took the BASE, they couldn't win an appointment by a Republican governor. So all the stats which indicate falling favor within the Republican Party are simply real Republicans finally "coming out".

The reality is the BASE still supports Trump. The people who still have Trump signs and flags up in my neighborhood, continue to be Trump supporters. No one has taken down a sign nor a flag, and these folks are your garden variety Trump supporter, not the screaming, chest thumping supporters.

The Trump BASE I estimate to be about 70% of Republican voters.

Trump chosen candidates like Walker, Oz, Mastriano, Cox, Diehl, Masters, Lake, Laxalt, Tshibaka, Bolduc and more all lost.
Did you notice how close these race were??? Trump supporters showed up with some support from tribal Republicans. Independents apparently voted against insanity. I say was that really a choice? Look at the GA race. Walker should have had only one vote ... his own, and yet the BASE and tribal Republicans voted for him.

My point is don't discount Trump and his control of the BASE. His supporters believe he was sent by God to save America. So unless you can name a single person, much less a Republican, who has that kid of control over the BASE, Trump is here to stay, and have an inordinate voice in the Republican Party.

This so funny, I can't decide where to put it. There doesn't seem to be an idiotic Trump blunder thread.

Trump's "people" seem to have stolen all or most of the images used in his NFT "My Life" cards. This YouTube video shows some of the funnier ones:

Not only is he going to be sued for stealing copyrighted images without permission to use them. But the NFT buyers are going to lose all rights to their NFTs, and sue Trump for whatever they paid. This could cost him a lot more than the 4.45 million he grossed in sales. It also probably destroys the LLCs he set up to market them.

$99.00 - it could have been worse. smile

Trump has only made $4m off of this endeavor so far - that's not nearly enough to pay for his current legal fees - if he pays the lawyer(s) at all being as notoriously cheap and chintzy as he is.

It was $99.00 if you bought them in the original lottery. But speculators bought most of them so some people have paid up to $40,000 for a rare one. What happens when their NFT has to be destroyed? Who do they sue? The person they bought it from did nothing wrong. Trump et al caused their loss. I suspect this could bankrupt Trump.

That Trump thinks of himself as a 'man of steel' says a lot about his low-self esteem related to the reality of his own body image. Sad.

Here’s an article I totally agree with.

Column: Closing out 2022, Trump has supplanted Nixon as the saddest figure in post-presidential politics

https://www.yahoo.com/news/column-closing-2022-trump-supplanted-110029577.html

I voted for Nixon, back in the day when one had to be 21 to vote. In 1968, absentee from Thailand and in 1972 absentee from Vietnam. I also watch Nixon resignation speech on Thai TV in 1974. Nixon did rehabilitate himself, through his writing of books and advising all the different presidents especially on foreign affairs until his death in 1994. Trump is indeed the saddest public figure I know of or have experienced. I do think the article does a whole lot better in explaining the differences than I ever could. Trump will also go down in history as the president with the lowest average approval rating of any president since Gallup first started keeping track of this back during the Truman presidency.

Biden Highest 57% Lowest 38% Average 46% as of 27 Dec 2022.
Trump Highest 49% Lowest 34% Average 41%
Obama Highest 67% Lowest 40% Average 48%
Bush (G.W.) Highest 90% Lowest 25% Average 49%
Clinton Highest 73% Lowest 37% Average 55%
Bush (G.H.W.) Highest 89% Lowest 29% Average 61%
Reagan Highest 68% lowest 35% Average 53%
Carter Highest 75% Lowest 28% Average 46%
Ford Highest 71% Lowest 37% Average 47%
Nixon Highest 67% Lowest 24% Average 49%
Johnson Highest 79% Lowest 35% Average 55%
Kennedy Highest 83% Lowest 56% Average 70%
Eisenhower Highest 79% Lowest 48% Average 65%
Truman Highest 87% Lowest 22% Average 45%

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

How would you expect anything different from a narcissist? He lives in a delusional dystopian world in which he is savior and benevolent dictator.

I have two diametrical responses to narcissists. They are so obnoxious I avoid them and yet at the same time I feel sorry for the disorder they have developed.

Far away across the field.
The tolling of the iron bell.
Calls the faithful to their knees.
To hear the softly spoken magic spells. LOL
