Yeah, Kind of like during the debates when Trump was trying to establish his international affairs bona fides, and he
said of Putin, "I got to know him very well because we were both on '60 Minutes,' we were stablemates, and we did very well that night."
We were all supposed to think that they had a real soul-baring conversation. When pressed about it later, he pointed out that he did not SAY that they had met. No, he just implied it until cornered.
He walked it back pretty hard in a recent
interview, saying, "... I have nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do, I never met Putin, I have nothing to do with Russia whatsoever."
And Zeke is right, Trump isn't even good at it. But his fanatics don't care WHAT he says, he remains their savior, just because.
