I think that this describes the largest bloc of voters, regardless of party affiliation.
Thus the need for a candidate with "charisma", in one of its many forms, in order to win an election. This charisma must be good enough to counterbalance both the ugly truths about the candidate, as well as the lies circulated by the opposition.
